Visit the County Players at The Falls Theatre

County Players has been in the Wappingers Falls community for more than 60 years. Since then, they have presented more than 200 shows, including popular titles like “Pride and Prejudice”, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, “Spamalot” and “Godspell.” In 1977, the old Academy Theatre on Main Street in Wappingers Falls was acquired and repairs immediately began to bring the building back to life and a new theater was born- The County Players Falls Theatre.

Upcoming 2024 Shows at The Falls Theatre

Luckily there is a great lineup for Season 66, which started in July 2023 and runs through May 2024. If you have missed a show in the summer, don’t worry because there are still several options to see a great performance this season.

In February, you don’t want to miss “An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde.” This play is described as witty as it brings an act of political sin to an English home. Sir Robert Chiltern is an ambitious politician whose rise to the top appears to be smooth sailing. But Mrs. Cheveley is here to bring a halt to that with evidence of financial deception.

March brings the production of “Photograph 51,” which is a must-see for science lovers. Rosalind Franklin was a scientist in the 1950s who was a part of the race to discover the powers of DNA. We all know Watson and Crick are credited with discovering the “double helix” structure of DNA, but it’s Rosalind Franklin’s skill with X-ray diffraction that first unveiled “the secret of life.”

The County Players will wrap up Season 66 in July with “Ragtime, The Musical.” This musical showcases an African-American family, a Jewish immigrant family, and a wealthy white family in turn-of-the-century America who all are in pursuit of the same thing- The American Dream. You’ll definitely want to catch this show, as it was nominated for 13 Tony Awards and won two.

How to Get Involved

You may be seeing these amazing titles and wondering how you can be a part of the action. If you have stage fright, you can still be involved in behind-the-scenes duties! Almost every person you see at the theater is a volunteer- from the box office folks to ushers, concession stand workers, and production crew. If you’re new in town, volunteering is a great way to make new friends and learn more about the community. If you’re interested, fill out the form on their website and someone will get in contact with you!

Planning Your Visit to The Falls Theatre

Now that you’ve picked out a show to attend, you’ll want to start planning out the logistics of getting there. The first thing you’ll need is a ticket to the show. These can be purchased on the County Players’ website or by phone at 845-298-1491. Ticket prices vary based on which show you’re seeing, and what time the performance starts. If you know you’re going to attend several shows throughout the season, a season pass might be a good idea.

Now that you have your ticket, you’re ready to head to the theater. If you arrive by car, it’s important to note that there is no parking lot for the theater. There is on-street parking and several public lots nearby. On nights of shows, there is a designated drop-off and pick-up area for convenience.

If anyone in your group requires wheelchair-accessible seats, be sure to call the box office to make necessary accommodations before you purchase your tickets.
