The New 2023 Subaru Outback Is Ready for Shoppers in the Poughkeepsie Area at Mid-Hudson Subaru

The Subaru Outback brings outstanding performance, plenty of space and a remarkably comfortable cabin to our customers at Mid-Hudson Subaru. We love showing this compact SUV off, because it really is an excellent option for so many of the drivers who visit our Newburgh, NY dealership.

Performance

The latest Subaru Outback offers two excellent powertrain options. The first is a 2.5-liter BOXER® four-cylinder engine, which can generate up to 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque for your drives around Wappingers Falls. If you'd like more power, be sure to select one of the XT trims or the Wilderness trim, as they come with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that can produce 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.

Regardless of the engine, the Outback comes with a Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission, which translates the engine's power to every wheel through Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Combined with standard X-MODE®, you can easily adjust the vehicle's driving dynamics to maximize traction on a wide variety of surfaces.

Interior Space

It's hard to feel cramped in this spacious SUV. The front seats enjoy up to 40.1 inches of headroom and 42.8 inches of legroom. This doesn't mean that the back seats are starved for room, though, as they can expect 39.1 inches of headroom and 39.5 inches of legroom. Altogether, you'll have 109 cubic feet of passenger space, or 107.5 cubic feet with the available moonroof.

Cargo volume is excellent, too. With the default configuration, you'll have 32.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. Fold those seats down, however, and it expands up to 75.6 cubic feet.

Interior Amenities

The Outback offers plenty of fantastic creature comforts and added conveniences to make errands around Poughkeepsie a simple and enjoyable matter. The driver's seat comes with 10-way power-adjustment functions on every trim save for the base model, and you can bump that up to 12-way power adjust on the Limited, Limited XT, Touring and Touring XT trim levels, which also come with memory functions. The front passenger can also enjoy eight-way power adjust across most of the trim levels.

You'll also easily find models with heated front seats, as these are standard on all but the base trim level, and you can also add heating functions for the rear outboard seating and steering wheel, ensuring everyone can stay warm and cozy during cold winter mornings near Hopewell Junction.

The seats in the Outback come with cloth upholstery standard, but one of our favorite options is the StarTex® water-repellent upholstery. This option comes standard on the Onyx Edition, Onyx Edition XT and Wilderness trims. The StarTex® material is easy to clean and durable, so it's a great choice if you don't want to worry about making a mess in your new SUV. You can also find leather or Nappa leather upholstery in other trim levels for a more premium experience.

Trim Levels

The new Subaru Outback is available in nine different trim levels:

  • The base Outback
  •
  • The Outback Premium
  •
  • The Outback Onyx Edition
  •
  • The Outback Limited
  •
  • The Outback Touring
  •
  • The Outback Onyx Edition XT
  •
  • The Outback Wilderness
  •
  • The Outback Limited XT
  •
  • The Outback Touring XT

While this might seem overwhelming at first, they're actually quite easy to understand when we break it down. If you see the XT designation on a trim level, that means it comes with the more powerful 2.4-liter turbo engine. While the XT trim levels also tend to offer Poughkeepsie drivers some general enhancements compared to their non-XT counterparts, the engine serves as the primary difference.

The Onyx Edition and Onyx Edition XT models are designed to handle off-road adventures a bit better than the rest, but the true champion of off-roading in the Outback lineup is the new Wilderness trim. This option comes with nearly an extra inch of ground clearance, the more powerful engine option, stronger roof rails and more.

The Limited, Touring and their XT counterparts are the premium options, and they come loaded with all sorts of amazing technology, premium materials and features to make life around Beacon easy. These are good options for families who spend a lot of their time in the car and need a reliable vehicle to take the kids to school, run errands and just generally handle your busy schedule.

There's a lot more to explore in the new Subaru Outback, but things like it's STARLINK® infotainment system and EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology are best experienced in person. So, feel free to schedule a test drive with our team at Mid-Hudson Subaru in Newburgh, NY!

New Subaru Outback Inventory at MHVS Mid Hudson Valley Subaru LLC near Newburgh, NY

The Subaru Outback is one of the best-reviewed wagons on the market in its newest model year. The wagon is an interesting vehicle class that was popular decades ago as the station wagon but is making a comeback in recent years. The Outback has excellent measures in many different dimensions, from a big, upscale interior to a long feature list and great engines. Poughkeepsie and Newburgh, NY customers can read more about the Subaru Outback on this page and why a new Outback might be a great fit, and what sets it apart from the pack.

Performance

The Outback has two different engines that you can choose from. The base engine is rated at 182 horsepower, and it is a naturally aspirated V4. Most buyers will be better off choosing the upgrade engine, a V4 turbo with 260 horsepower. This is a major increase in power, and you will be able to feel the difference on the highway and when you need to go up or down a hill. One transmission option for the Outback is a CVT, and it feels smooth and comfortable. The Outback has good fuel economy with 33 miles per gallon for highway conditions and 26 for cities in the base engine, and a few less MPG of each in the turbo engine. The handling is great, and the Outback feels good behind the wheel.

Interior

The Outback's interior is roomy and comfortable, and there is both legroom for adult passengers and cargo space. The materials used in the Outback's cabin are soft and contribute to the feeling of comfort. The base model has cloth upholstery, and you can upgrade that to leather, depending on the trim and options you choose. In terms of technology, the Outback starts with a significant list of features, including dual 7-inch touchscreens, which is quite unusual, along with more typical features like smartphone connectivity, USB ports, and a selection of automated driver assistance tech.

Off-roading

One of the most interesting wagons' characteristics is that they tend to have off-roading capability, and the Outback is a good example of this. It has some special features like hill descent control and an X-Mode setting to deal with inclines and poor conditions on the trails. While it looks like a modern car or small SUV, it is extremely durable, has excellent clearance, and the handling and performance are great fits for the off-road environment around Wappingers Falls.

Wagons and SUVs

The wagon category is an offshoot of small SUVs. They have the form of a crossover, with a car-like body shape, but wagons tend to add on luxury interiors and off-roading capacity, which is not typical of the small SUV class. The Outback is one of the least expensive wagons on the road, but it still has a terrific interior and notable off-roading equipment. That also means that you can get a higher trim level or more options and still have a lower price than a different wagon's base price. That kind of value is hard to beat, especially considering all that you get for the money for the Outback.
