2011 IMPREZA WRX - the rally inspired performer
The 2011 WRX now features the wide-body WRX STI design, known for its rally-winning performance. Front and rear track is wider by about 1.5 inches and features stiffer rear subframe bushings. The WRX also receives larger wheels, wider tires, an improved audio system that integrates Bluetooth® phone and streaming audio connectivity and iPod® control capability. The WRX STI now comes in two body styles, 4-door and 5-door. And the wing is back. The 4-door design has the striking larger rear spoiler to create less drag for a higher top speed. You also get a lowered ride height, stiffer front and rear bushings and thicker front and rear stabilizer bars. So you can get more Gs and more Geez.

To maintain market dominance, key modifications to both models have improved aesthetics, performance and will stoke enthusiast's passion.

2011 IMPREZA WRX STI - to make it, we start at fast
Subaru performance fans have been eagerly awaiting the next Impreza
WRX STI sedan. Finally, the wait is over. For the 2011 model year, the
STI will once again be available in sedan form.
Along with the hatchback, the STI sedan
has been engineered to be even more precise. This includes larger front
and rear stabilizer bars, increased spring rates, and stiffer rear
sub-frame bushings. And of course, the sedan features the iconic STI
rear spoiler, which has been tuned to increase downforce, while reducing
the car's overall drag coefficient.
Returning for model year
2011, is the STI's potent turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® engine,
which cranks out 305-horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to a
6-speed manual transmission and Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The
rally-tuned sport suspension, exclusive Brembo® braking
system, and Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) help keep all
that power in check.
Subaru brings back the wing - renewing
their commitment to clandestine street racers
everywhere with this addition to its ultimate-performance model line
(which includes also a five-door hatch).
To maximize handling the driver can select
among "Intelligent," "Sport" and "Sport Sharp" automatic driving modes;
and there's a manual mode with six driver-selectable differential
locking settings. The Intelligent
mode would probably be called Comfort by most other manufacturers
because it's your basic everyday commuting setting. Sport provides quick
throttle response and "powerful, linear acceleration," as Subaru puts
it. Sport Sharp just amps up all the performance a little bit more.
The
Subaru WRX STI rides on standard 18-inch aluminum wheels that weigh
17.6
pounds less than the previous standard wheels (for performance, every
pound counts). The rubber on the wheels are Dunlop SP600 245/40R18
summer performance tires.
Cost? A base price around $35,000 is
expected.
